Whining gearbox.....replacing oil

Morning...and hello

No doubt this has been done to death, but i've just bought a 2002 K11 'S' for my daughter - it's got a noticable amount of gearbox whine.

I've read all sorts of conflicting opinions on how to check / replace the gearbox oil!

On this box, is there a drain plug and a fill plug on the gearbox casing (rather than using the speedo drive)....Does it use bog standard gearbox oil?....Any advice welcome.

It also has the all too common stiff gearstick which doesn't return to center - i assume it's just a case of cleaning up & greasing the bushes as well as popping the spring back on!

yes, its only the pre98 1.0 smaller gearbox,s that have no level plug, and i prefer a thin oil but sae 80 is listed in haynes :grinning:

Where abouts are the drain plugs

At the front facing the rad, at the side (with access from wheel arch), or buried around the back somewhere. Without stripping bits out, i cant see where they are!
