Haven't you briefly hit 20psi before Paul?

u mean when my actuator hose ruptured - unaware of losing boost control - whilst overtaking at full boost - and the silicone pipes popping apart at very high boost - losing all power whilst beside a slow lorry with oncoming traffic getting closer - almost shatting pants, moment?... probably, but was very brief
 
ok frank readings I got are:
-21psi at idle
-24psi at 3k in neutral
-14psi cruising at 3k/70mph in 5th
10psi from 2.8k in gear
10psi from 5k in neutral

just shows the difference from bigger and smaller turbo,s eh paul, mine builds hardly any boost in 1st gear, and i can watch the boost needle drop if i spin the wheels in 2nd (ghetto traction control :))
 
thats a high boost threshold.

my pressure switch boost controller may also be contributing to the reduced threshold point by keeping that WG fully shut till it see's 10psi.
