Trick for gear lever

As my gear lever doesn't centre I had great pleasure in reading a fix on this site; however after removing the central exhaust shield I was so disapointed to find the spring perfectly intact. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what can potentially cause this problem.

I too noticed mines sits off to the left unless i put it to the right, i just though it was so that when im in neutral it was just a case of push it forward into first :p, other than that i noticed a rattling noise at low RPMs whenever im in gear, anythoughts on what it could be?

Cheers Steve :)

Just a question on this topic, my linkage is loose as a loose thing, and makes a desperate rattle side to side. I might take a look at these springs. I know for my mazda there is a kit of bearings and springs or whatever to replace these...does such a thing exist for the micra?

if it doesn't return to center from the LH then the return spring under the stick is snapped or linkage bushes are rusty & seized.
if the stick seems very stiff, the bushes are rusty n seized.
if its difficult to slot into 1st/2nd, the bushes are worn loose.
if it rattles in 5th on motorway, the bushes are worn loose.
rattling in 3rd/4th could be loose bushes & snapped return spring.

bearing joint conversion kits don't exist for k11 but i made my own
