track rod end locking nut

hello

can anyone tell me which way to turn the locking nut to undo it on a k11, 1999 micra

been turning it anti-clockwise and it won't budge!!

thanks

roger

what are you using to undo it? it is anti-clockwise..spray penetrate fluid on the threads and nut and if your using a spanner then maybe use a hammer to loosen it....last option is to grind it off

its like any normal thread.
looking outwards from behind the wheel, u unscrew the locknut anti-clock away from the tie-rod end.
helps to wirebrush clean the exposed threads and spray of wd40.

depends if the nut is facing up towards you or underneath where you cant see.....frank if it is not visable from uptop then it is clockwise but i cant remember if the nut is right infront so yeh back to barcelona match lol

when looking at the side with the nut on then it is anti clockwise
otherwise its clockwise

if you definately cannot budge it you could use a nut splitter this way you can undo the track rod end
and only have to replace the lock nut

a work mate has a saying to remind him of which way to turn a nut
lefty loosey
righty tighty

looking along the thread, clockwise screws away from you, anti-clockwise screws towards u

do we need a diagram to illustrate this?
