This fell of from underneath the car yesyerday (heat shield?)

Hi all. I am a proud owner of a 99 micra1.0. Beautiful little thing. I had few exhaust related noises coming from the car since 3 weeks until yesterday when this part fell off. I picked it up. Looks like the bracket that holds the shield has snapped. Is this a must have? How do I get it back on? Unsurprisingly the banging noise is gone. Thanks

Part of the weather protection for the second cat, nothing to worry about other than check the protective panels on the rest of the system aren't about to fall off. It's not really needed.
