things to do in newcastle area with the kids!

a bit of a long shot i know but can anybody from the newcastle area sugest something good to do this weekend with my son ?
we are taking a trip up from leicester way to pick up some bits and thought it might be cool to do something whilst were there.
hes 11 by the way!
and no we dont want to watch newcastle lose :devil:

cars girls football arcades gokarts etc. oh hold on thats me! no actually that is what he likes plus an unhealthy amount of ps2!

err, theres a free animal farm thing in jesmond, derwent crossing i think its called, or i could be talking crap. Either way its there, you can see bunnies and such things.

centre for life if hes a sciency person
discovery museum is an interesting one
or for something a bit cooler/different try otterburn hall its a stately home but does rock climbing assault courses and canoeing Im sure i went here with my cousin when I was younger. You might need to call them and ask what they offer.
