snapped handbrake cable? how to change?

my friend was driving my car and he returned to say the handbrake isnt working.

i think its snapped as he wanted to do handbrakers in the car (its a cheap run about and is getting scrapped on the 23rd).

is there any way to check for definite that the cable has snapped?

if it is snapped im going to borrow my friends garage, so theres is a lift and tools. is there any tips on how to change the cable or step by step guide?

thanks

to check it, get the car in the air and pull handbrake and see if the wheels are still loose or solid,

changing handbrake cables isnt that hard, loosen from inside car, remove rear wheels and drums, remove shoes (remembering where the springs go and also check rear cylinders as they like to leak) disconnect cable from the shoes and then disconnect from car and then reverse of what you did and then adjust handbrake
