Hi All,

When I take my micra to the service station, they open the bonnet and use high pressure water to clean the engine also. But I have heard that there are some parts/ sensors in the engine that should be covered from water... Is this true? If so pls. advise me the exact parts I need to cover.

Thanks.

The biggest problem is blasting water into the wells where the spark plugs are located. The seals on the plugs will keep out spray but generally not a direct blast.
I'd usually avoid blasting the dizzy as well.

Directing high pressure water at the radiator can damage the fins.

I would never use a high pressure blaster on a car engine myself but if you avoid hitting parts that might be effected then all should be ok. All the parts in the engine bay are waterproof to some level as the engine compartment is not water proof and is not water proof the first time you drove in rain you would have problems but high pressure can force water into theses parts. Degreaser and a hand hose is the safest way to clean down the engine and I also cover up some elec parts with plastic bags and so one.
