Seem to get a Wirrr from Gearbox

Just bought a Micra on a M Reg and there is a slight wirring noise coming from the Gearbox. Is this common with these. Is it easy to check the Fluid levels on the Gear box .. Thanks Darren

its easy to check the oil level, there is a 10mm alan key on the front of the box. id check ur tyres and ur wheel bearing wilst ur there aswel cus they can make that sort of niose.

If it is a M reg then he won't have the filler hole on the front, the only way to do it is to unplug the speedo cable at the rear of the box.
Bearing is a good call though, does it come from a particular side you can tell?

I'd put money on it being the Thrust bearing. does it go away when you touch the clutch? (Not push the clutch in, only when you touch the pedal about 5mm)

Common problem on the K11. Very bad Gearbox's on them.

its my partners car and she says she thinks it may come from the left side.
With Reguards to the Thrust bearing someone else mentioned that to me.
Is that a major job to fix.
Either way could it be OK just to carry on as it is without the car breaking up completely
