Resistor problem

Hiya all,

I'm having a problem with my heater blower in my old shape 02 micra. (only setting 4 working and 1 2 and 3 not) Having searched the forums, this seems to be a common problem. I removed the resistor card and its a bit burnt out. However, I left the card out over night, went to start the car this morning and it wouldn't. Sounded like a really flat battery to me. Replaced the resistor card and 20 mins later after a few more go's it started. I'm not proffessing to have a massive knowledge of cars, but it seems weird to me that the battery recharged itself...? The car starts now but it seemed odd that removing the card would do this. Any thought and advise welcome!

Much appreciated,
Si

It's really odd that your car would not start when the resistor was out. I had no resistor in my car for some time and the car always started.

Maybe the electronics in the late model K11 are a little more sophisticated, and the ECU noticed a missing item? I dunno.

I tried fixing my resistor but it was completely shot, so I bought a new one.
