removing oil filtet

Hi everybody
Quick questions, can I remove the oil filter without removing the oil off the engine?
Only the oil contained in the filter will leak? Is it the best way to remove a slighty excess levelof oil engine? Or it is better to unscrew the sump plug?

if ya put too much oil in just loosen the drain plug and let abit of oil leak past the plug & ur fingers then recheck level

did you manage to change the filter yet Seb?

No I didn't Shaun, I was doing it in the street, head blocked between the floor and the oil tank; I would need a hatch or something to be able to stand under the car in order to have a good grip on the filter.
The oil and the filter were changed last year (only 6 000KM done) so I think the filter can last one more year.

Yeah it is a bit of a squeeze lifted my front end up, onto stands and if you can't get it out by hand... there is always the screwdriver through the side method

Thank you for the tips R Reg gangsta ! I have to admit thats its much practical on the Clio where you have plenty of room to grip the oil filter...

I used the good old screwdriver and hammer method .. does the job great if your replacing your filter.
