Passenger footwell leak

Help, I seem to have water pooling in the passenger footwell area. Ive had a look a previous threads and tried looking under the scuttle panel as suggested in this thread-

but everything seems fine under the panel. I don't have a sunroof so it rules that out. Ive also had the windscreen seals checked and have been told that these are ok too. Any other suggestions?

Im thinking of giving it to the dealers unless anyone can suggest a good mechanic around the birmingham area as i dont want it to start rusting!!

I had the same prob on my 1993 slx whenever it rained heavy or took it through a car wash, water would soak the carpet.

it turned out to be a perished rubber seal for a plastic clip on the chassis just above the fan blower inlet. it is what the wiper scuttle panel clips onto.

basically the rubber had broken up and the clip got looser over the years.

when enough water flowed past from the windscreen it would seep past the seal and straight down into blower where it leaks into the footwell and in my case it also went along the vent system and down to the ecu where it got shorted out.

i fixed it by resealing the plastic clips above the blower inlet with polyurethane black sealant, involved taking the dash & fan blower section out to access the blower inlet port, did it overnight cos it happened just as i began my holiday trip.
