Hello to you all

I am the proud owner of a 1993 K10 Micr:k10: owned it for 9 years I love it but of late it has been poorly so here I am hoping to get some advice
Never too old to learn it just takes me longer than when I was a young mechanic and cars were mechanical not electrical my Micra is the last of them
I am a senior citizen living in Essex I like computers Family History and of course cars Oh I nearly forgot I like Staffordshire bullterriers too:laugh:

Welcome to the Micra Sports Club, Roger - You're in the right place for all help Micra-wise!
I totally agree with you on the electrical front - my old K11, pretty much all mechanical pretty much never went wrong! The only thing that went wrong were unsurprisingly the electrics!!
Enjoy your stay here - I'm sure a K10 owner will be along shortly to help out the ailments!

Thank you and HELP!

Thanks for the welcome
Now how do I go about getting a few answers to ????
My K10 has developed a gearbox whine I take it to be main shaft bearings as the noise lessens when the clutch is depresses
It's still running and has been like this for a few months the car has covered 152,000 miles so the box is entitled to moan I rebuilt the engine ( IN CAR ) at 120,000 new rings ends mains and thrust bearings from the sump ( no I am not a retired Gynaecologist ) so you can see I will try anything to keep her going I just need to know what gearboxes can be fitted to a 1993 1 Litre K10 LS i.e. K10 1200 and 4 or 5 speed
As I don't fancy a g/box rebuild I need the car for mobility and so need to be sure what will and will not do a straight swap

Thanks Roger

roger, any 1.0, 1.2, 4 or 5 speed will fit, and even the stronger (?) pre98 1.0 k11 one will fit, with some minor mods :)

Thanks Frank

All I need now is to locate one I was toying with the idea of rebuilding my own but typical Mr Haynes just as you get to the technical part it say's consult a transmission specialist??? When I worked in the trade the only specialist was a body repairman

Does anyone sell a real repair manual even on a CD ???? Or is it time I hung up my spanners for good

Roger

NO it is issue 0931 from the book spine and it said to cover 1983 to 93 and the cover is blue
but the manual transmision is only shown as an exploded diagram and a few details on the remote linkage, the whole section only covers 3 pages it states that transmission overhaul is a difficult job best to seek the help of a specialist

I have noticed there seem to a few Haynes manuals for the K10 all I want is a little information on any special tools required and if the diff has to be dismantled too

Roger

roger, mine covers 83 - 88, green, # 931 it must be different to yours then , i,ll see if i can scan the g/box pages ;)
the 1.3 one i stripped (in my blog somewhere) split a treat, but the selector mech is a right chinese puzzle to assemble tho :p

Thanks Andy

That site is just what I needed I may even buy the other Haynes Manual the green one it seems like the one I have was just to cover later additions
All I need now is some warm days ?????? It like all my vehicles had Mollyslip additives from the day I bought it and although it is a little noisy it is still working and selecting gears as good as ever
So I think thanks to you guys I am going to nurse her along a little while and do the bearings as I know the box it's self is sound ( just to be sure I have taken out recovery )

Thanks a 1,000 000

Roger
