Odd headlamps (dipped to full beam alternating working filaments)

Hi,

Had a look through the circuit layout in the service manual, but can't figure this out.

It's not a dimdip and it's without daytime running lamps

Sidelights are fine

LH lamp works, RH doesn't

High beam indicator on and LH goes out, but RH goes on!

According to the service manual the bulb is double filament (unless it's the LH bulb full beams gone?)

they're on separate fuses, the only thing I can think of is a dodgy driving lamp relay? Or harness wiring?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

And the RH was an ever so slight discolouration of the prongs holding both filaments! I'm not sure how full beam still managed to work, it should've gone to ground according to the wiring in the service manual!

Hello KL. Funny that, same thing just happened to my other Micra.
I swapped the bulbs over......and it fixed it, all working again - go figure that.

Sounds like a bad earth. A lot of us find that the headlight connectors melt and get replaced with ceramic ones. It's usually the earth contact that melts and causes issues.
