OBD on a k11

there is a proper obd socket on the car i am working on, which going by my diagnostic unit is for the k12, 08/2000 onward, but all over this loverly forum, the k12 starts at 03, and the car is on an x plate, and is clearly a k11 shape, but i have been using a k12 setting with my diag to read it, and it has been reading, anyone got a clue whats goin on here?

yes. sinse year 2000 (x-reg) nissan changed the ecu's on the k11 micras and they support OBD-II. unlike older K11s.
