OBD Wifi guide

Hi everyone just thought id share a guide I found on how to use a OBD on your iphone.

Step 1 – Plug your scan tool into the OBD-II diagnostic connector in your vehicle

The OBD-II diagnostic connector is located on the driver’s side of the vehicle, usually under the steering wheel. On some vehicles, it is covered by a plastic panel that you must open to expose the connector. Firmly plug your scan tool into the connector.

Step 2 – Turn the vehicle ignition to ON

The vehicle ignition must be in the ON position to provide power to the both the scan tool and the vehicle’s computer system.

Step 3 – Connect to the scan tool using the Wi-Fi settings app on your iOS device

Open the iOS Settings app and select Wi-Fi. Turn Wi-Fi ON if it is not already turned on. Find and select the network corresponding to your Wi-Fi scan tool, as shown below.

Step 4 – Configure the iOS Wi-Fi settings for your device

Select the blue information icon for the OBD scan tool network that you selected above.

Select Static and enter an IP address and Subnet Mask for the Wi-Fi network. You must know the IP address of your scan tool, which can be found in the documentation from the scan tool manufacturer. Most ELM Wi-Fi scan tools use the IP address 192.168.0.10. You must set the IP address of your iOS device to a different value than the IP address of your scan tool. We recommend adding 1 to the last number of the IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.11). Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and leave the Router and DNS fields blank.

Step 5 – Configure the Wi-Fi settings in OBD Fusion

The default communication settings will work for most ELM327 Wi-Fi scan tools. If you don’t have a generic ELM327 Wi-Fi scan tool or you need to connect to a scan tool with a different IP address, then follow the instructions below.

In OBD Fusion, open Settings > Preferences > Communications. Under the Wi-Fi category, select your OBD scan tool. If you do not see your scan tool listed, select Custom to enter a custom IP address and port number.

Step 6 – Connect to your vehicle

At the bottom of the main page in OBD Fusion, click the Connect button to connect to your vehicle. OBD Fusion will display a status dialog while connecting. After OBD Fusion connects to your vehicle, the dialog will be closed.
