No response from accellerator

for the second time our micra has suddenly decided to cut out. Pressing the accelerator gets no response from the engine. the first time we called the aa and they said that there was no cable on the micra but there was a electronic throttle control. After had fiddled with it for 1/2 hour it started
today it happened again after reving a few times she started up and then behaved normal for a few 100 yards then cut out again. we managed to get it going but not sure where to look and ideas?

its drive-by-wire steven, the ecu receives signals from the throttle pedal, and conveys that to the throttlebody.
have you checked for any faultcodes ?

taking it to the garage tomorrow to get the codes checked out. she is being a real pain in the a*** at the moment warning light on the dash (thinking its the timing belt) as both the cam belt and cam shaft sensors have been playing up lately, the rear door is clicking and keeps draining the battery and on top of all that now the problem with the none responsive accelerator!
