New Guy needs Help - High Idle problem - Be-1

Hello everybody,

My name is David and I just picked up my Be-1 today. It is a 1987 with an automatic Transmission.

It only has 57,000 kilometers and is in really nice shape. It's yellow with no canvas top.

Moving onto my problem.

When I went to pick I up at the port earlier today, I tried to start it and it would not start. I pumped the accelerator one time to engage the auto choke. They car then started right up. It idled very high. It was around 3500 rpms. I turned it off and started it again, still idled around 3500 rpms. I let it warm up for over 5 minutes, still stayed at 3500 rpms.

Drove it home and it drove fine except for a bit of hesitation when accelerating hard. Stopped at a gas station and added fresh gas. Drove another 12 miles, still idling fast.

Seems the auto choke is not disengaging.

Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
