need help! anyone diagnose this problem for me?

Ok its a biggie i think, not a micra (obviously a micra would never ever go wrong) but a horrible corsa!

Every time i start my 1.7 diesel corsa b, it is really lumpy. It also has a random misfire, especailly at around 1200 rpm. this gets better as the engine heats up, but never goes away completely. Its also been using noticably more fuel, and smoking slightly at higher rpm. also feels less powerful especially when cold

just had new glow plugs, oil, transmission fluid, and battery.

when i changed the glow plugs i noticed that two of them had some stange deposit on the end, and one had a little tiny bit of melted metal on it.

a mate said it could be a melted piston ring? i dont know but i NEED this sorted

HELP?!??!?!?!!?

Sounds like low compression
Or boost leak but boost leak would happen all the time in most cases
I'd try a dry compression test followed by a wet test on the cylinders if there is a massive difference in compression then you got a melted ring

Initially I'd have said glow plug until you said the missfire didnt go away, then I'd say injectors and if not that then something more serious.

Would it misfire if it were a dodgy glow plug? I would have though maybe a bit of start up knock and roughness but only till it got to good temp
Injectors be very carefull when checking them diesel injectors can take off your finger the psi is so high!! Unplug them before touching them just to be sure

yeah someone else siad about injectors so i'll have to check them. if its no them, il give the glowplugs another change (3rd set in 4 months) and if still no luck its a compression test!
