My K10SS is going on the Rollers tomorrow :)

dont mean to start an arguement but i found with my mis-firing problem the msc responses were alot more helpful then many mechanics responses. so its probably a bit of a long-shot for mark to ask here and get a good answer but theres no harm in trying.

No dis-respect intended here, but I'm with Andrew on this one.

Carb design is a hugely complicated, expensive and time consuming project (even in our days with computer aided design) There is a stack of variables that need to be balanced. Designers typically have first degrees in fluid mechanics and are armed with archives of experience, and simulation results.

Although I can see that filling will indeed reduce AFR, I doubt very much that the filling process takes into consideration the balance of other side effects.

Changing a jet for a properly designed and manufactured one for that specific purpose ensures that you are getting a properly designed product that will deliver a metered amount of fuel according to the throttle position...and not just a hobbyists nearest guess.

If distance is a problem, perhaps you could get remote advice on the right jet for you....mail order it and ask you local greasemonkey to fit it?

I know you will get the boost you are looking for one way or the other though...good luck and nice one for keeping us posted on the developments

I dont know what i'm gonna do bob, spent a lot of money on getting it this far and lincoln isnt exactly close, 85 miles away. Mot runs out on it next week so dunno what i'm gonna do

still ring the bloke though mark and tell him whats up,i have ring him with some probs and he sent me a needle and its been sorted out

I'm going to be getting a standard hitachi and inlet from a yard this weekend and am going to leave the custom inlet and su carb,

I think i'm going to save a bit of money and drive it down to lincoln and get that guy who you say bob to do it. I know that there is not many people who specialise in SU's any more and i think the place where i took it to were not up to the task.

Would you be able to come along too if i do go bob as your the one who knows how it all works, wont be for a few weeks or maybe even a month?

Mark

i will ring the man mark tomorrow and get both of our own cars booked in together towards the end of march cus after ive run mine in it will have to be setup before the start of the new race season.
if you tranfer all you inlet and carb back to standard for now,and when the time comes around for us to go to lincoln,he can do mine 1st on the rollers while you are changing yours back over to the su setup...Does that sound ok

yeah mate that sounds cool,

I am going to give it a full service, change the cambelt and put a piper cam in it too,
i wanted to modify the brake servo case a bit so it doesnt touch it at all, so before end of march should be fine. i wanna get it all done before the 26th march because of the santa pod micra meeting.

I still have your phone number bob, mines 07999311972 if you dont have it bob.

9am might be a struggle for me, if you can could you do it for about 12 noon as i will have to drive all the way there, about 2 hours drive

Rang the bloke got them booked in 24 march,my car goes on the roller about 9:30 but you will still have to be there early to let your engine cool down and swop inlets back,so you will just have to get up early and be there for about 10:00........ok

I cant be bothered with it anymore mate, its cost me an arm and a leg and i've just had enough, i need to get the car through an mot and i'm low on cash and dont have a job anymore.

If i do wanna put it back together again then I'll get in contact with you again
