Micra K11 Strong Smell of Petrol. PLEASE HELP!

Hey Guys,

Sorry i dont post on here as much as I should do but i have a newly acquired problem with my beloved micra 1.0 inspiration.


At the moment there can be a strong smell of petrol both outside and inside of the car and is worrying me a lot!


What possible problems could this be?

leaks around the fuel filter rubber piping?

Mine was like that when the fuel hose going out of the tank was ragged

If there is a leak i would say that it'll be around the fuel tank area, that the fumes are getting into the cabin from under the back seat and that's why it smells both inside and outside the car.
The only way to find an answer really is to jack it up, get underneath there and have a good look at the tank, the lines that run to and from it, and the filler neck. Taking off the rear passenger side wheel will make it a lot easier to check the filler neck.
Try to park your car off the public roads untill you've sorted it because the fire department can tow away vehicles that leak or are suspected to leak fuel, for obvious reasons, it only takes one idiot to flick a lit ciggy in that direction.

remove the back seat and look above the fuel pump
there is a seal
maybe needs replacement
