Melted plug on dizzy!?!?

A couple weeks ago while driving home my k11 died on me it felt like i ran out of petrol but i just came from filling up. Battery was fine too as it still turning over just won't fire up. Also there was burning smell like melting plastic but i cudn find where from .
i don't seem to be getting any spark.
While swapping the dizzy for one of another micra i noticed the smaller plug is melted as is the wire slightly.
Any ideas wat cud have caused this? And is it possible this cud be my problem?

I wanted to swap out my dizzy, the one in my car has one connector and the one I want to fit has two connector. If I make the wires fit into the single plug will it work, as the amount of wires are similar just two plugs instead of one ?
