basiclly i have a janspeed manifold, and carnt decided weather to remove the heat wrap (lower half has been removed so far) or paint it? heat wrap traps water and reduce life off the mild steel does it not?

so far iam just gonna coat the lower half of the manifold in hammerite, and keep the top half thats seeable in the engine bay wrapped up. i think that will look smart?

How about get it coated with a heat resistant material. That will also help protect it from the elements etc..

give it some of that vinegar action and check what the general condition is like, it wasn't good before i sold it to dean.

Shame, a re-mapped ecu makes MOT times a sinch........mine's sailed through the last two years with better emission figures than my standard 1.3GX.

My 1.3 SR passes with the Janspeed manifold and just the secondary cat in place...and thats with a different fuel map too (i.e. more fuel!). You just need the get the cat really hot :)
