K11 2000 998 GX Auto - Power Steering

I'm new to the forum so hi everyone.
I need some advice please. My Mum has owned her K11 from new and it's still very tidy. Problem is the power steering has gone really heavy.....I turned it round for her today and it was almost like having no power assistance.
Is this likely to be a major job (not sure it's worth spending much but if I can make life a little easier for her!!)

Thanks davyboy. Only ever tinkered with '60s cars so have no experience of PAS! I don't have a workshop manual so will Google how to check the fluid level. Thanks again.
