Ignition switch dosn't

Micra 2003

Sometimes fully turning the switch dose not pull in the starter solenoid.

The switch seems a bit rough on turning. I have squirted a silicon based lubricant into the barrel, and there is an improvement.
I have been quoted £370 to have the barrel replaced.

I am reasonably OK doing these jobs myself but would like other comments about it.

I have read that Nissan did a recall on ignition switches any comment?

is this a K11?

The exact same thing happened on my K11, buy a new ignition barrell with key and do it yourself, simples. Downside is you will have 2 different keys then. If it is a k12 it will be much harder with all the security!

Thanks Eliot

That means that one key operates the wireless and the door. The “new” key just the ignition ?? OK.

What is the cost of the barrel?
Is the barrel separate, detachable from the switch ?
Just some idea of the difficulty would be appreciated.

The model is 2003 Micra 2 door “new shape”
How would I find the “K” number ?
