ignition barrell ? can it be changed ?

say the ignition barrel was damaged , can you remove and renew it ? even the whole set to keep the key the same for the whole car ?

can it be done ?

aii, if it aint got nats etc, long as you have the keys, its a strait swap i think.

no nats - so just a matter of getting a set of locks from the scrapyard and swapping them over ?

the ignition barrel is joined to the steering colum by screws that you can't get too. you would have to drill them out and then thread new bolts.

its got those security bolt things that the head snap n leave a round dome cant remember the name of them but what u can do is get a small punch/chizel n hit it till it cracks it then u can easily take it off then find a new bolt to fit or u can cut a groove into the middle then use it like screw driver bolt

yeah, just use a center punch and hammer the shear bolts in an anti-clockwise fashion and they should come undone easily enough.

yea but you have to do it in a scrap yard

yeah, just use a center punch and hammer the shear bolts in an anti-clockwise fashion and they should come undone easily enough.

^ is easy than drilling and any other way sugested

oh and shear bolts are used for a security reason so get new ones from nissan only a few quid
