How much...

How much do you guise think it will cost to put my tires off my steelies onto my alloys?

Quick fit, *fail quoted me £50.

Surely not? also i dont want the poxy weights on the front as theyre getting refurbed soon. Can i have them put on the back of the alloy?

Cheers gang.

Can you do it yourself big bar and a hammer

Got slicks fitted to 14 inch rims on Saturday with new valve and balancing for £28.
The weights were put on the back aswell.

Btw John that was for 2. It was cheaper for 13 inch wheels

And yes Frank they got a good testing but weren't put to great use due to the ####e surface at crail! Ross got a better time on street tires! Best was a 14.14 with a 50 shot of nitrous.

I paid 60euros to move my tyres from the steelies to the alloys (same as yours :) ) . The guys did a great job, balancing etc, it was a shop specialised in tyres, with good tools, pro job.

For 4 tires.

Both 13" wheels so.. its more of binning the tires on the alloys and putting the steelies tires onto my alloys. and balancing.

Did they put the weights on the outer lip?

Yeah I payed 28 for two wheels to have tires swapped, new valve, balancing and disposal of the oldens

That will damage the alloy? and wont they need balancing?

Oh yeah most people don't have balancers lol forgot that and no it won't damage it you push the tyres on and be careful I've never damaged a rim or tyre where as I've ripped a few tyres with a tyre machine

let all the air out remove the valve core if you can get a hammer break the bead all round it can be done by jumping on it some times then lever the edge of the tyre over the rim protect the rim with a cloth or something then go all the way round levering the tyre and it pops off! Then tyre soap the tyre push it over the rim till it's all the way on put the core in and blow it up till it pops on the rim again
Job done

Not to sound daft but is any old soap good for sealing a new tyre? Thinking of doing this :wasntme:

Dunno mate I just bought some as I fit my own tyres normally is easier than convincing some tyre fitter that the damn tyre will stretch

all i can say is it looked like white bar of lard being brushed on
but obviously must have been any sort of rubber friendly product

I did it myself with fairy liquid, flat metal bar and swearing and shouting!! Once I got the hang of it there quite simple :)

Got quoted couple of quid to remove and £7 a tire + balance.. seems ok. That will get sorted once my holiday and ax is sorted :'(
