Fuel Gauge Sender...

I'm knocking myself up a lovely car-pc, but one of the things I want in the software is something that tracks the fuel gauge.

Does anyone know a sensible place to tap the fuel gauge sender voltage? I haven't looked yet, but I guess there's a point on the fuel tank, and something behind the instrument panel. I'd probably go for the fuel tank as it's likely to be more accessable, but has anyone actually done any of this?

For info, I'll use a PIC (12F675) to measure the voltage a have a software UART to generate a stream to the PC... The motherboard I have has 2 com ports, so I'll use one for the PIC and have 4 channels of measurement of some kind (e.g fuel, light and 2 temp sensors or something like that).

Cheers for any help!

Sounds simple enough. You certaintly wont run into any problems I'm sure. I would tap in behind the dash, I would feel running a wire to the back is not a tidy way to do this.
