front wheels spinning going around a round about when accelerating

I thought something was seriously wrong with the micra when going around a roundabout the wheels started spinning and losing grip while accelerating. I discovered the problem was the road surface. Due to hundreds of cars going around this roundabout, the road surface has been polished as smooth as glass and add to that things like oil and you get an ultra slippery surface.

A spinning skidding front driven wheel is grossly inefficient at delivering power to drive the vehicle forward never mind accelerate quickly, regardless of a worn out smooth road surface, pot holes, cheap tyres or diesel surface contamination.

Sometimes steady is quicker & less is more, when all of the practical limiting factors are considered.

Happy days.
