External Tachometer installation ?

there,s usually a red (+ power) a black (earth) a green (signal, to the blue dizzy wire or pinout # 2 on the ecu) and maybe another wire for the backlight :grinning:

members are gonna read my post now and say no hes posted in correct location, well its still there lol

Sorry mates, I was hoping for a kind of "mini guide" so I vonluntary posted in the Guide section.
Would be really appreciated and a great help if people can post pictures, especially for non native english speakers members like me, because it's a bit hard for us to perfectly understand some mechanical slang words or expressions ;)
Cheers
Seb

hey seb basically like frank said you have got red black and green for the meter and black and red for light depending how and wen you want the light to come on where you connect it. basically i joined the two blacks together and the two reds connected reds to positive wen key is in and two blacks to a negative behind cd player. when i put the key in the tacho lights up. now the green wire is the hard part it will depending on your micra mine was blue will be next to the distributor cap basically you are connecting it to the negative side of the dizzy. i will show you pictures as to where the green wire goes

wow thread resurection didnt know i was still on this lol, doesnt take that long a suppose if you know what you are doing and where you want the meter to be

I have a rough idea where i want it to be, i have an 02 plate with the coil pack, so no dizzy to connect to, is it possible to connect it to a pin on the back of the instrument cluster or to the ecu?

wont b the instrument cluster im afraid unless you have a rpm in your dials already. it will have to be to the ecu its a certain pin that u will need to find search the form i think and u will find it hope it helps

to be honest just where iv put mine on the side pillar alot of people put thier gauges there u could use one of the vent or the middle anything you want really

have you got a picture? and i guess thats the good thing about it being small, i will have to wait until i get it then i can decided exactly where to put it..

Hi, I have tried all my best and still no luck, I can not get the Tachometer to work. It has power but the needle does not move. I connected it to one of the 4 wire connected between the engine (spark-plug) and the distributor and the needle moved but very low RPM, so the Tachometer works! Please help me find the correct wire to tap in. I tried looking for the Coil but I couldn't find so I believe my model is a non-coil one.
