excessive petrol

hi im new to the site so first post wonder if any 1 can help i have a S reg nissan micra but recently its started using ecessive amounts of fuel car seems to be a little juddery but otherwise its ok ive put £25 petrol done abput 71 miles and i need petrol any help appreciated

Unplug the lambda sensor on the exhaust manifold and see if there any difference with it unplugged.

i had a lamda sensor spair but not sure if it was any gd but changed it any way shud the be change in revs or something when unplugged i no it control air an fuel mixture or will i only notice after driving a while

There might be a slight change in revs on idle when unplugged, its either burning more fuel than its meant to or youve got a leak.

It sounds like you need to do a bit of maths, brimming the tank when you fill up and working out the exact MPG.

My car does close to 240 miles from fully brimmed to half full, about 47 mpg. But as I said you need to brim the tank and do some maths to work out exactly what mpg it does.
