hay, team.... looks like I need a new g'box, coupla bearings on the way out clutch side.... so when cisco you mention a modification to an engine mount, what's really required? and definately same drive shafts?

if I find one, I'll get the flywheel lightened and redrilled to fit a 190mm clutch ...is that sensible? Not as sexy as all new parts but a solution?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but was just wondering if I could get a pic/discription of the mods needde to the mounts, bit worried about micra box handling the power of the turbo conversion (coming soon)

The motor is being built with the rods & pistons from datrats, little head work & full rebuild. Thinking of sticking with a t25 as I do a lot of mountain driving (want as little lag as possible) & the car will be my daily driver (doing 400-500km a week). Going to start out with 7 psi (already have the haltec/5th injector set up from alex), then will up the boost to 12psi when I save up for engine management, custom rail & larger injectors. I don't thrash the car off the line, but do alot of engine braking & on/off throttle when driving around the hills, which is not nice to the bearings. Mainly just want an idea of the mods needed to the mounts & anything else to make it fit.

This is White Knight's territory completely.

That factory bolt-ons page can be written by anyone, I think White Knight put all the knowledge in there about the exa gearbox. I have no idea sorry.

But its a good box if it lasts with Whitey's torque curve :)

Yeah I think none of them had 32 series anyway. Which is a big time different fitment etc.

Hi Snoopy. You have 2 options . Get a standard Micra box rebuilt and shot peened. I am not going into shot peening process but plenty of web sites which explain this. It would give you a much tougher gearbox and if you are aiming at 12 psi I think you will be okay.
Talk to Errol as he deals with the gearbox Guru who strips and rebuilds gearboxes for rally cars and this includes cars straight from the factory!!
Other option as per Whitey but you also need the starter motor plus 2 of th engine mounts have to be slightly modified. It is not a direct bolt on but very close.
I went with the E15T box because of all the torque down low.
Probably a shot peened standard box would have been okay.
Anyway I would chat with Errol.

Go for it Snoopy. Glad to see my old Haltec /5th.injector set up going to good use. You will find it works a treat.
One thing I would do is replace the little O ring where 5th. injector enters the back of the throttle body. Not 100% sure but it may have had a small leak.
Another forced Micra about to be born. Mate with the bullet proof internals you can go to whatever psi you want into the future. You will find 7psi great but after a while you will want more.
Keep us posted.

usually head upto o'riellys, binna burra, best of all look out, springbrook, any tight mountain road thats fun. Although haven't been out in awhile, as a friend bought a jackaroo and put his mini in the shed & the other guy I usually go driving with, is in the midlle of rear disc brake & twin webber conversion on his escort. Its not as much fun by myself :(

got a bit off topic there...but I come up over the state border via tomewin to go to work... its most enjoyable...

re: gearbox.... it comes down to cost in the end... might be cheaper to get a recon exa et box than and shot peened micra box or not? not high on the priority list at moment.

I hope the turbo project goes smoothly... mine is still at the aquiring stage but starting at the head, standard internals.. just drawing up the intake/exhaust manifolds now... trying to find suppliers for gas piping on the gold coast to get started.... any suggestions anyone?
