engine oil choices

i know the most expensive is always best but i mean how much better is it?

i would go for a mid priced branded 10w40 semi personally mart, and budget gear oil (my super s g/box had engine oil in for many years lol )

cheers frank,any idea on using 5w30? engines only done 36 thousand and have been told as its thinner it allows the engine to move easier?

i'm using castrol gtx 10w40 here, ran fine at rockingham and oulton park

it would probably be ok mart (its just a bit thinner eh) probably ideal for winter use

Ive been using exol 10w40 semi but defo always prefur lucus 10w40 semi, but if u want it to be quieter if revving the tits off it i was always under the impression that heavy thicker weight oil would quieten it but not sure on that,

Asda was/(may be still is) selling 5L mobil super S 10/40 (semi syth) for £10, i got 5 bottles of it myself
