Engine Management

Hey guys I own a 2000 X reg micra S 1 litre twin cam 16valve And long story short I took it out for a drive to a local skate park which involves 1 motor way which is mostly 50 mph due to road works and I noticed that when I took my foot off the throttle slightly it started chugging then running smooth and then I st off from the park and it kept cutting out I eventually got it home after it keeping cutting out and running again with the engine management light on.

This morning I ran it, Ran perfectly to take it on a little drive to see what's what to find the problem still persists cutting out then running.

I'm getting majorly annoyed I understand it's an old car but it's what happens with age

Is there anyway I can get self diagnostics to activate in the car? It sounds to me like the air flow meter but the damned thing looks brand new, Any help?

Thanks! :)
