Eliot's Corolla T Sport

Eliot

Ex Super S Owner
Hi all,

Some of the old members may remember me, 3 years ago I sold my pride and joy to go to University (1.3 Super S).
The pictures of it and my old thread can be seen below.

Thread: http://www.micra.org.uk/threads/my-1-3-super-s.39218/

Last time I saw it was at JAE 2 years ago when Kris C (the new owner) brought it along

Now I have finished those 3 years I have returned to the driving world, I decided to stick Japanese and go with something with some power but also wouldn't kill me on insurance.

The Result, A Toyota Corolla T Sport VVTi-L 192BHP.

I picked it up 2 weeks ago completely standard and it is absolutely amazing to drive. Its equipped with VVTi-L (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence: Toyota's version of VTEC) the 1.8 gives some nice power, however once it hits the overhead cam (lift as its referred too) at 6200RPM it really pulls up until 8250RPM. There is a few pictures below.

I will be updating with little changes, nothing major as I am on a budget at the moment just finishing Uni and all. Hope you all enjoy!

Been painting the brake calipers, went for a subtle silver option over the usual red. Used tinned hammered silver hammerite and dabbed it on with a brush.

I had my first small niggle not long after owning it. The exhaust tip had rusted and completely fallen off, I cant recall when it happened, I just noticed one day something was missing from the back. This has happened to a few people so it must be a common fault.

Rather than dish out a ridiculous amount Toyota want for a new back box I went for a different solution.

My Dad works in precision engineering so made me up a small tapered steel insert that I could hammer into the existing box.

This game me enough room to clamp on an exhaust tip.

I went for a dual 3". A similar style to the official TTE backbox that most people opt for.

Here is the result on the car

Best thing about this is I can easily change the tip and put a different one if I get bored.

Decided to tidy her up a bit so I painted the calipers a nice subtle silver

shortly after I ended up replacing the the front discs and pads.

The nearside was so badly worn the brakes were jamming on when reversing.

Next job was the infamous lift bolts, very easy to do!
These are infamous on these cars, they keep the cams locked in position when they change over to the high cam at 6200 rpm.
They can wear and snap casing the cams to move about slightly and not allowing it to change to the high cam.

You can see the wear marks in the second picture.
