Do i need to be a Trader

gtsnissanb

Official MSC Trader
Hi guys basically I'm a fully qualified technician nvq level 3 in mechanics and currently work out of my k10 sold my van as I lost my job (damn reccession)! The only job I could get was a postman, bad times! On the upside I finish work around 12-2 o'clock and whilst delivering I get lots of time to think!
So if I were to offer my services on here doing mobile mechanic work would I need trader account? I do on the sxoc?

I think it should be ok.
I looked at becoming a trader because we do a lot of work on Micras etc. It isn't that expensive on here but we decided against it until we sort out our parts website.

Thing is, if we came along and tried to sell parts we would upset the traders who have already paid, and there are quite a few.
Working as a mobile mechanic you are unlikely to tread on anyones toes because even if there were loads of mobile mechanics its unlikely 2 would be operating in the same area.

Thing is, I'm sure no-one would bother if you started a thread telling folks what you do and where you work but opening a traders account might help especially if you intend doing a lot of Micras.
You get your own section, banner and if you have leaflets printed the club will put them on their stand at meets etc. The whole point of making folks pay for a traders account is because it will lead to more business.

At the risk of sounding smug, we are out the door with bulging diaries and workshops. Many garages in our area know we specialise in Japanese cars and welding and are happy to send their cars to our workshops. But thats because of word of mouth and years of doing the shi... doing the jobs no-one else wanted or didn't think were worth doing. Word of mouth and willing to do a good job for a fair price is far more likely to get you work than a cheeky thread on here!(Y)

Anyway, you have kinda started a thead about your services anyway. Why not tell everyone how they can contact you and what you can offer?

Starting a blog or thread about your K10 lets you show off your mechanical skills with pictures etc. Becoming a member of the club means you can read and post on the 'How to guides' section too.

id love my own workshop hope to get there one day!! but until then this is my way(Y)
i will become a member depends on what the word is from kev as to whether i need trader account first

Hi Martin,

Sorry I've not replied sooner, this is a busy time of year for me with work commitments.

I've just sent you a PM regarding your enquiry.

Thanks
