Constant engine warning/check engine/engine management light

hey guys, haven't been on in a while, but my sister has been relying on the car to get to work and today the engine light came on and stays on

I know it's hard without a code reader, going to run it to the garage tomorrow, but wondered if there was anything you could suggest to check tonight?

she doesn't like driving as it is

Ignore it , I do. Half the time it don't mean a thing, just a quirk. Mine is on and of all the time.
On my Suzuki van the engine lights been on 3 years !!!! goes lovely just the same. On my last jag the engine limp mode warning used to come on a long run, but the car drove perfectly, so I just ignored that as well.
