Changing Manual tranmission fluid?

Hi all,

Been reading ye'old Haynes manual and there doesn't seem to be a schedule for changing the above fluid. I sent an email to Haynes Technical and they agreed that it doesn't need changing ever!

Does that sound correct?

If it does, whats the best grade of stuff to sling in - two sources say either SAE 80 and SAE 80w/90 ??? - what's the difference?

Is it worth doing, my car has done 53,000miles to date.

I just changed mine, it lists the type that you need in your Haynes, think sae80w/90 but I will have a look at my bottle tomorrow.
Nissan change it every two years IIRC, so I guess that is the best bet

so did you notice any difference from changing your gearbox oil?

Erm, peace of mind really, my gears are still notchy when cold, but I have a bused the box a bit and it is living with 50% more power so can't really complain really, just didn't want crappy oil to cost me a new gearbox
