Catalytic converter help

Hi well got my Peter Lloyd exhaust today looked at the downpipe nuts from cat and I know they will snap off can I replace these with normal bolts the ones fitted have springs on?also would it be easier to unbolt top of cat then attempted the rusty bolts any help tips much appreciated.

the mani/1st cat bolts are tricky to access and can be sure they'll be seized too from yrs of heat fusion.
when the downpipe studs snapped off I'd unbolt the whole mani/cat off the engine and seperate em outside the engine for better access & tools.
once seperate I could then grind the old rusted bolt flat and drill it out & retap the thread then used a normal bolt/washers with the spring

Hi polyp thanxs for the info and picture did you reuse the springs cant seem to find any listed new nor the bolts so I was thinking of using normal bolts is that a nut between the two flanges in your pic.

yep reuse spring and it's a nut to lock the bolt against the thread

Hi well one bolt snapped off other one came out ok ive drilled it out not spot on may I add but its done got to get the nuts and bolts now.
