Cat nuts

I bought a de-cat section from ebay and when i came to fit it i couldn't remove the old one due to badly rusted nuts (some of them don't even look like nuts anymore no chance of getting a socket or mole grips on them). Any body else had this problem? and what can i do besides snapping or cutting them off?

pretty common problem eh, i usually grind the side of the nut away, and chisel it off sideways

nuts and bolts the stock cat is fitted with studs anyway iirc

That's what i thought i had to do the same when i removed the cat from my old rover.

i used gas welder to burn these nuts/bolts so it was easy to remove them.

I bought a new midpipe for a tenner.

Had the same problem on my 100NX. This is what it looked like:

Cut and chisel is the key. I put some acidresistant bolts on my new exhasut, to prevent that from ever happening again.

Where did you get the decat pipe from? I am looking for one.....

I got it from ebay it was around 100 quid with postage. It looks exactly the same as a standard cat from the outside
