Broken turbo??

Hi Guys , just recieved a T25 from a S13 sold as "no play in the shaft backwards, forwards, left or right".... brilliant!

EXCEPT! I can move the inlet turbine side to side to the extant that it stops the blade moving, am i being too heavy handed or is there alot of wear in it?

Also for a "like new" turbo the airflow pipe that would lead to the intercooler etc has a dark oily residue coating its inside... id have thought this should be clean? oil bearings gone?

Any thoughts would be great guys as it will be swiftly going back for a refund!

Must have alot of play if you can push the wheel to jam it on the housing. A rebuild kit should fix this aswell as any oil escaping

not fit for use eh, my T15 blades are starting to foul the casing, so i,ve stopped using it

Hi the nail on the head there Frank & here's me hoping to join you turbo guys!

Just miffed it was sold as being a good runner!

Quick question guys should there be any left to right movement at all?

only very slightly like few thou cos the shift would be floating on a very thin film of oil when running
the blades should never be able to touch the housing. if yes then the bushes are well worn and needs rebuild, hopefully the blades and housings not damaged

Thanks Paul, il have a go at rebuilding i think, get the guy to refund me the cash for a decent rebuild kit at least!

unless stated as relatively new built, most used turbo's are prob likely gonna be quite worn and requires rebuilding
