Another timing chain thread

Hi
My sisters micra has been having issues starting and i have checked the timing chain tensioner and the chain is definitely stretched. I have to questions, can i just replace the chain as i she is planning on selling the car as soon as it works properly and is there any reason i can't leave the engine in and just remove the wheel, wheel arch and suspension for access. Its an automatic if that makes any difference.
Appreciate any advice.
Cheers

i would relocate (advance) the position of the cam sensor personally jozh, and get another couple of years use from the chain

Would that work even with the chain stretched, the tensioner piston is out by about 25mm, and how would i go about doing that?
Thanks
