aftermarket rev counter

has anyone fitted an aftermarket rev counter to a coilpack micra? if so what did they use as the trigger wire for the gauge?

I'm wanting a rev counter as well, but don't know how to fit them at all.. anyone got a step by step guide?

If you get one and let us know what wires it has we might be able to help just not all have the same wiring

You know the speedometer part of the dash, is it possible to replace our current ones with ones that already have a rev counter or are they bigger dashs?

It can be replaced with dials that a already have a rev counter.

You'd probably need to wire the rev gauge to the ECU or dizzy though

I have an old school (ie carbie and points) tacho that I want to put on a CG13DE (dizzy engine in a mini).

I've found and isolated the blue wire out of the wiring loom, my question is can I use this as an input for the tacho or do I need to tap in from the coil?

Or am I just out of luck?

Do I need to pick up a signal @ the coil then?
Alternatively I found a amplifier that may do the trick. Any idea what the signal looks like? 1 pulse per engine revolution or 1 per plug firing as usual for tacho pick-ups.?

yes i would try tapping into the coil feed first mate
