Advice needed - Oil on Plugs

Hi people,

I have a 1995 Micra 1.0 and have recently noticed the car has lacked a bit of
punch. Having checked number 3 & 4 plugs both were black & oil (well I assume that's what it was) could be seen in the plughole. Oil was also found on the valve cover.

Any ideas what the problem could be ? I'm hoping not the piston rings especially as there is only 43K on the clock.

What sort of price do garages charge to sort piston rings ?

Please help ?

- Crankshaft seals are bad?
- Running too rich?

Don't know about price but I'm going to guess its dear as its an inside job... where are you based? one of the lads off here may be able to help

Mcwill when you say lack of punch do you mean not very fast acceleration or what as my car doesnt seem to like hills i have to gear right down where my mate has a matiz which isnt even a 1.0 and it seems to cope fine maybe its just the fact its a small engine and his car is lighter than mine sorry to hijack your thread just thought this was of similar topic
