2 litre silvia / micra has now arrived - BLOG

SHES ARRIVED

My micra with a 2 litre silvia engine has now arrived and she is lovely. However in desperate need of a clean. She arrived about 1300 yesterday the 16/01 but i didn't get a chance to start this until now. I figured i would start a blog to show my progress over the next few weeks.

I will start working on her this saturday. She has arrived with definite evidence of a scrap yard but we will loose this scrap yard look within a week or two.

Ok a bit of info she arrived with no front bumper on as she was to low to get on the trailer which is fine, the drivers door bump stop has fallen off but is in the car with the bumper and lots of little bits. This micra seems to have lots of small fun jobs to do with the luxury all the bits required for these jobs have come with the car.

I will post some pics for you to see, this car will be brilliant when she is finished but is a project to start. I can't wait to get stuck in.

Does anyone know where on the engine the markings will be to give me an engine number or model?

All feedback is welcome i will also keep this blog updated with all the jobs as i do them.

Any questions or suggestions will be greatly recieved this micra will be outstanding.

Thanks Paul :k11motors

I'll have a look tomorrow at what springs she is sitting on, I haven't had her running yet. The battery is on charge and i will get the chance to play on sat so fingers crossed she'll be running very soon.

are they exhausts coming out of the sides ?

Yes the exhausts do come out of both sides, under the sills and as in the pics through the side skirts they look almost new.

there is a lot of work to be done.
but i think youl do a good jod... so when you going to take me out in the
1.3....

gotta keep that kit, alot of people won't like it but i think it looks mint! :)

and do you mind me asking........how much £?

just a Q is it a silvia gearbox modded or somthing els. can you get some more pics of underneth.

and what you going to be doing with this one. (set up for raceing or...)

Bit worried that they've put a 2.0 litre engine in but not upgraded the brakes!

Still would be fun once everything was upgraded! :D

Hi, GT88 i'll take you for a spin in the 1.3 as soon as she is setup correctly. The brakes will be up graded as soon as she is fit for the road. I'm not sure whether to go for a full stripped race car or just strip the stuff not required.

K11stew have you got a pic of a 20 year old 1.8 bluebird with my engine?

I'll get some pics of the underneath soon.

the engine is pretty old tho

joel would you like to elaborate on that?

Paul, good luck preparing your micra! she / he is a fine k11!! well done for taking on the challenge of rebuilding it and saving it from rusting away!

Cheers mate, i'll bring her back to her prime.

I think we need to find a pic of a similar engine in a car as i'm unsure of the exact engine model so if we can find one then that would be a great help all round

not being a cock, but i would agree with joelh.

i heard a bit about this car a while ago - only "a mate said"
but it sounded rough

that sort of engine these days, unless its been looked after, can't be developing more than a slightly tuned cg13

however, it would be a nice little project, with some potential!!

thought so.

as i said in general, if you're gonna do this properly you're gonna have to start from scratch mate.

all the best with it like, will be a beast.

p.s theres an excellent place on team valley who make custom shafts, i went to them to sort raceworx's out.

cheers for the info the engines are similar, i was wondering about the distributor mine is in a different place the ones in the pics?

will be torquey as its charged..

I think this will develop decent power, Jap engines newer than 20 years dont lose mega power, ESP ones using injection and alloys blocks...\

.. unlike old porches and ferraris, not to mention muscle cars..

Not my cup of tea at all, looks like the engine conversion was completed in a week. Not enough time spend making it neat a tidy, now I know mine is'nt the tidiest but I'd like to think it more loved than that was. . .bet it goes like stink though!!

Ok, heres an update, after much debate on here and now we have some pics we will assume this is the ca18et engine thus making it a 1.8. So we'll work of that basis. I had her turning over this morning with a few peoblems such as fuel not coming through to the injectors properly so i have fixed that there was a blockage in a pipe but there working fine now. She isn't firing at the moment so i will try and source a new distributor and ignition coil.

She is a little untidy under the bonnet but she is now in a loved home and all that will be sorted shortly lets get her running first.

Why should there be any confusion - what does the V5 say?
Agree that it looks is a very poor state - I'm sure you can make it look good though - liking that exhaust :)

whoever did the job and actually FINISHED it deserves credit imo
paul
all the best with your project

life,s too short for perfection !

"If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly" Still, credit to whoever did it, looks like with a bit of TLC it's got potential

point taken

the problem is, there are loads of abandoned projects that people lost interest in because they were too ambitious
we dont know yet if its been botched, i,ll reserve my judgement
the car was probably mint when it arrived at the salvage yard (i,ve worked in one, the stock gets zero respect )

I was more commenting on the state of the engine bay (especially relay box) but I know what you mean. As I said, respect to whoever did it.

Hi theres not much to update at present, i have an uprated coil and distributor on the way to me. I just had a few small jobs on my other micra i have now finished, this worked out quite well as i have to wait for the new coil and distributor.

have you got the name and number for the company mate?

I know its been some time, but the new distributor turned up on sat so i went to fit it today and it is different so i have sourced another that should be with me in a couple of days.

Ok I have fitted the new distributor and FANTASTIC news she started and ran first turn of the key.

AWESOME

oh yes she lives, now we have a project.
