1.8 litre silvia / micra has now arrived - BLOG

Did the hiss sound come after you had removed everything and put it all back?

Could be a leak on the turbo system somewhere.

Also is is blowing any smoke on start up, a sign if the turbo or manifold has any cracks / problems.

She sounds nice, i think the video isn't good quality sorry about that. Right i have sussed it

after one nights logical thinking and a good nights sleep, i thought of the answer and i was right.

Its the air flow sensor, i know should have checked this first after the problems micra's have.

so just gotta find a new one now.

cheers Paul

Been a little while so here is an update.......

I have had her side skirts and bumpers off to repair them i have re-sprayed them (although struggled to get the right paint) they just require lacquering. i now have her running and revving up in need of a service which is next .......

i will post up some pics hopefully this weekend although i have a lambo experience so i may not get a chance.

After the service i think i may need to clean the engine bay to continue...

will definitely try and get some pics up

I can't wait for her to be finished.

I can't decide whether to strip her or not? If i do strip her i will be after a rear upper strut brace to go through the boot, for her if anyone has one for sale?

Thanks,

Now i can add to this thread we lost a little bit or at least the last update from the hack.

I have removed the rear bumper and side skirts and side exhausts, will have another exhaust fitted this weekend.

I have welded in a new cross member and done some re-wiring in the engine bay along with the air sensor.

i will get some pics up but i am also after some bumpers if any one has some that are taking up space.

preferably tj4 blue, sr ones preferably but any would do. I got some splitters to put on but if they were already on and painted it'd save me a job.

However any bumpers would do

Went out today and have bought front and rear bumpers standard, rear boot handle, rear wiper and motor and some calipers, just got to collect it monday.

Standard parts but its a start, not far from finishing the engine bay, then just the inside and we'll be there.

I was planning to treat the rust its losts of small bits, Never heard of KUrust is it any good and can i get it a halfords i know i can get it off the net but halfords is about 2 mins away and quicker to go there.

yeah, its next to the body filler, about head hight..lol
kurust actualy turns the rust into a synthetic based metal like substance that can be worked with, it also eats the rust around the area in order for it not to return..

Worked brilliantly i have been busy today, i rubbed the rear under panel down coated with KUrust and painted. I fitted a rear bumper, the rear boot handle checked the lights for license plate worked and fitted a rear wiper with motor which has transformed the look of the rear. I also fitted the radiator more securely and filled it with water. had to make a slight mod to the bonnet so it shut easily and safely. Here are some pics let me know what you think.......

rear end looks so much better now..

your rear wiper doesnt look set up proper..theres a marking on the rear window that markes where the wiper should be set at. its on one of the heater lines and its got an arrow that points up. its really small and only just noticeable.

thats cool missing the washer at the bottom so its only bolted in place to see how she fitted, thanks though i'll look for that arrow thing.

I was quite please with how the rear came out. if i get a good run today might get the front on her see how it all sits and looks.

Nice work mate, did you fit the rear spoiler to it or did it come with that? Was just thinking how much better mine would look with a spoiler. Good luck with the rest of it dude!!
