1.3 Si ignition timing

Hey all ive been hearing about advancing you ignition timing past where its spoce to be to get a little more power out of you car ? can any one shed some light on this ?? ive got a fair few mods on my micra now n she goes pretty well bt was just wondering if this could help a little ?? if so any one no the best degree to set it to ?

I've read on cisco forum that 17.5 deg was the best compromise. Any people experienced it?
