Wobbly steering wheel

My steering wheel has a bit of free play which makes it quite scary at high speed! I've only just got the car and i was wondering is it just worn bushing or something a little more serious! hope you can help :grinning:

ahh, coz the k10 racks tend to float when worn, do you mean it wobbles at speed ? or has free play ?

Just free play at any speed, just it's almost uncontrollable past 70

if you mean its shaking, then wheel balance,
if you mean it wanders all over the road, then serious play somewhere

I think it must be bushing cos i can move the wheel a considerable distance before the wheels with move :/

a tyre/exhaust place will probably do a free check for you (they,ll probably blag you tho, so try a couple of places and compare)

i have some play in my car and i need balancing done even 50 is a little bit of a giggle - saves going gym though
