Using Higher Grade Oil in K11 Micra

Hi,
I have some oil which I bought in bulk for my other car (Volvo D5) and was wondering if there would be any problem using it in my K11 1.3 (MY1995) Micra?
This is the oil:
ShellHelix Ultra Professional AF 5W-30 5Ltr
Is it likely to a) not make any difference b) be better for the engine or c) possibly not protect it as well?

Thanks for your advice.

K11 engine's aren't to fussed about what oil they run. It's happy as long as it has oil! Try the 5W-30 and just keep any eye on the oil level :)

I put 5w30 in my 1.4 for its last year. It didn't seem to make any difference (in that it continued to sound like a bag of spanners after, evidently, a very hard-fought 130k mile life). As Ben suggests - it's all oil, just keep the level right.

Now got some posh 0w40 in my much tighter (but older) 1.3, for those cold winter mornings for no reason whatsoever...

YMMV, obviously.

PS if you're curious, this makes for an informative read.

I've just serviced my 1.0l with 5-30 fully synthetic Petronas oil, Comma's website recommends it so it can't be far off
