i know peeps will take the piss but what do you actually need to convert a standard micra engine to a turbo one? does it sit just in front of the manifold bolted on ? ???

» CMF MemberOK lets start with what a turbo is. Its basicly an exhasut drive compressor. So you need exhaust gas to drive it (1.turbo manifold). Then you need to get the gas away from the turbo aswell as an outlet for the waste gate (2.Dump pipe). Now that the turbo is being driven you need to feed air to it. So an air filter(3.) needs to be fitted on the turbo inlet. Next you need to get air form the turbo to the throttle body (you can fit an intercooler(4.) in between here depending on boost).
Then the turbo needs lubrication so it needs a high psi oil feed (5.) (usually taken from either the plug on the head or out the oil psi switch outlet). The oil needs to get from the turbo to the sump so a low psi pipe (6.) the gravity feed back to the sump is needed. Then if the turbo is water cooled you need to feed water to it. then depending on boost (in the case of a micra above 4 psi) you need additional fueling (either 5th injector, piggy or after market ecu with larger injecters). hope this helps.
